Doing what I do now with 'Coaching Your Feelings' has come about- as these things often do, - in an unplanned and round-about way :
But despite twists and turns, what's guided me to this point has been a passion for learning everything I can about how we can grow into the fullness of what we want to be by being guided by some urge, pull, feeling, voice inside us to move to the next step and then the next.
This may mean something different to each of us, but whilst we are all unique as individuals, what we all have in common is the inner urge to become ever happier and more fulfilled in our lives.
Our lives are never 'finished' and each time we achieve an important goal or fulfil a heartfelt desire, another one jumps into its place for us to pursue.
Working for many years as an Image Consultant and Personal Stylist gave me the opportunity to help hundreds of men and women define and alter their appearance or wardrobe. It would usually be at a key time in their life, whether a job promotion, career change or redundancy, having a baby, going back to work, retiring, starting or ending an important relationship or recovery from a traumatic event.
For each and every person there was an unfolding transformation: ' Who am I now that this change has taken place?' Or 'How can I show outwardly how I feel inside? '
Life is change and change happens constantly without our awareness or permission. We can ignore it a lot of the time but sometimes it jumps out in front of us and out of our control.
Sometimes we are ready for the changes and sometimes we want to hide away but if we can calm down and listen to the quiet and gentle but persistent urge inside, it shows us the way if we will listen and allow it to.
It's said that we teach what we need to learn, and there have been many times personally when I missed opportunities, hung back, lacked confidence or felt unequal to a task or situation.
Having been taught how to 'look' self-confident, but lacking the necessary self- trust or even ability to hear my own 'inner voice', I could only disappoint myself by failing to connect with my own values, beliefs and feeling of purpose.
So I personally understood every fear and foible that every client expressed in summoning the trust and confidence to attempt something new and uncomfortable.
I knew that helping to unfold this inner process was what I really loved doing, so I trained to be a Life Coach, borrowing the safe structured support of the coaching with its precisely tailored questions to coax insight and answers from the client. Amongst the plethora of 'regular' tools used in coaching, such as NLP techniques and Temperament Type, I also use oracle cards, colour therapy or the astrological birth chart if it's right for the client or the situation.
Being coached to find our own right answers is about seeing ourselves and our life from a different perspective where answers are more obvious. Unfortunately we seem to have developed a culture in which not 'having it all' could mean we have failed.
If our beliefs tell us we should be this or do that or have the other, we may inwardly beat ourselves up when we are not strong enough, virtuous enough or clever enough to succeed with the rules we expect ourselves to live by.
The 'rules' (our beliefs) are often so old that they stretch back beyond our own lives into those of our ancestors and beyond but we often don't question them: we have a vague idea of our values but mostly they are a hotch-potch of all the values given us by all the important people in the culture we grew up in - not necessarily ours at all any longer, and so we are disconnected from our own experiences and goals we thought were important have no meaning once achieved.
We feel bad about ourselves for not fitting in or not wanting what we ought to want. Negative self-talk is usually silent, only discernible by its signature bad feeling of anxiety, discomfort or procrastination.
Becoming a Healing practitioner has for me and my clients, shifted coaching into top gear. The training itself is simply about learning to relax very quickly into a slower brain-wave.
The theta brainwave is called the healing brain wave and is the only frequency in which we as humans are able to be in two 'places' at once fully consciously: here we can access the subconscious without being sleepy or asleep. We can be awake and alert and we can ask for and witness the changes that a client asks for, to shift old outworn or negative beliefs or create positive changes.
The results that are brought about by Theta Healing are amazing and instantaneous and so having identified where the doubt and fear of breaking with outworn beliefs are eroding self-esteem, healing clears the way for fresh stress-free energy.
Coaching Your Feelings is not only possible but a highly effective way to begin to live happily in the ways you really want, and I feel privileged to be working in this arena of quiet and positive change
